The field of breast cancer is rapidly evolving and becoming ever more complicated given the development of neoadjuvant therapies, genetic testing, genomic profiling, and technologic advances. There are several areas of controversy with management difference between facilities and practitioners.

Target Audience

Surgeons, medical oncologists, physicians, nurses, and all other health care professionals interested in this subject matter.

  • Discuss different surgical options for breast cancer.
  • Identify genomic assays to help guide treatment decisions.
  • Outline the steps to determine when a breast cancer patient should have surgery first versus systemic therapy first.
  • Integrate new technologies to minimize the morbidity of cancer treatments.
  • Outline the various types of cultural diversities (gender, age, race, religion, culture, etc.) that relate to demographics, diagnosis and treatment.
